The Enchantress

Thursday, 24 April 2014 12:38 Written by Patricia Mendoza
Emilia wants to travel and she does so in many ways. She magnifies tiny objects; she  transforms and multiplies tiny universes. She cuts colors and forms with her scissors which she carefully places in angles, surfaces, and outlines. With needle and thread she fills out petals; she invents geographies; her stitches trace paths and bridges that our sight must follow and our imagination must expand. The stamps connect different worlds. In her intervention Emilia reproduces the possibilities of flying, of going around the globe. Her soft touch creates folds in time and fissures in space; protection and adventure, two forces that seem contradictory but that the Enchantress skillfully reconciles.
