Whispering Orchids

The series that I called Orquídeas Susurrantes (Whispering Orchids) is born out of restlessness present since my childhood. Today it is like a riddle to try to figure out what the orchids are
whispering or whispered in the past...

As a little girl I used to like the cartoons of “Ahí viene Cascarrabias” (“Here comes the Grump”), a funny humorous strip populated with unimaginable characters. The main protagonist was the
Grump who put a curse of gloom on the whole land. However, Princess Dawn and Blip, her psychedelic pet who drops his nose in order to be able to sniff even the most inaccessible places,
would fight together with Terry, a newcomer, trying to break the spell and restore happiness to that fantasy land where Princess Dawn belongs and where only the Crystal Key could lift the
curse.

The only thing they need to do for everything to go back to normal is to find the Crystal Key and “activate” it, but this key is only to be found in the famous Cave of the Whispering Orchids, a
cavity hidden between the Thousand Caves.

Naturally, the Grump, together with his inseparable green dragon who canʼt stop sneezing, will try to thwart any plan of Princess Dawn. And so the adventures ensue, with these fantastic
characters that I enjoyed so much and that always left me restless because I wanted to know what the Whispering Orchids were like and what they used to whisper. I was getting frustrated
every time the Grump managed to prevent them from the possibility of finding the Cave of the hispering Orchids.

From there stems a lot of unease... Why canʼt people be happy due to somebodyʼs curse? Why do the bad ones always win? Why is it hard to be happy? Since I was a little girl, there were many
questions that unsettled me. Over the years, I grew and understood a lot of things and far from insisting on portraying subjects, in themselves very respectable and important, of violence in
every sense of the word, of abuse and gender-based crimes and many other relevant issues, I became interested in painting and showing that virtue and beauty exist in spite of the evil. Life
taught me that. I survived stage 4 lymphatic cancer which spread to the bone marrow and liver and with 7 tumours pressing on my chest. It was a great life test which fortunately I passed and
today I would like to conjure my Whispering Orchids, find the Cave and retrieve the Crystal Key to “activate” it and create a happy world...

I am an idealist by nature, just as I am resilient, and I only want to pass on to the world a little bit of allegorical, reflective and loving themes. The orchid symbolizes seduction, sensuality, fertility,
perfection, beauty and exquisiteness, among others. Today I am a female artist who is fulfilled and happy and who wishes to invite you to contribute something good to this world of inequality,
cruelty and injustice.
