This project aims to produce a series of paintings based on borders, a recurring visual element in Mesoamerican cultures, which featured widely in their architecture, jewelry and textiles, and still exists today.
I wished to recreate them through composition, color and shape, without retaining the symmetry. I sought a rhythmic, musical, asymmetrical and artisanal structure, one which recurs in textiles produced on looms, woven or hand-embroidered, using silk, velvet or cotton thread, with which skillful craftsmen teach us about form and harmony. The painstaking work of thousands of hands and eyes inspired me to produce these representations.

Juchitán, Oaxaca. 1963. Graduated in Sociology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, then trained as a painter at “La Esmeralda” National School of Painting, Sculpture and Etching. Since 1998 she has been a member of the Mexican Fine Art Salon. Individual and group exhibitions in Mexico, Buenos Aires, Ecuador, the United States, Brazil, France, Spain, Indonesia and Japan.
